If you've never raced before, Jurby is a good place to start. The circuit is forgiving and our race school is there to help new riders.
New to Racing?
What you'll need
- A race licence. You'll need an ACU licence, which you can get through our race school.
- ARA membership. Join the club through this website. If you live on the Island and are 18 or over it's £40, or £20 if you're under 18. Riders who live off the Island can apply for free membership.
- A bike. It needs to meet the regulations for the class you want to race in. Have a look at the Classes and Regulations pages.
- Kit. An approved helmet, one-piece leathers, boots and gloves.
- A transponder. We use MyLaps transponders for timing. You can hire one from the club, but there are only a few available at each meeting. If you buy your own you won't be stuck waiting for one.
The race school
New riders go through our race school at their first meetings. This is a combination of a classroom session and an on track session, where you'll be assessed for your ability to abide by the circuit rules, bike control and keeping yourself & others safe.
Your first meeting
Get there early. Sign on, take your bike and kit to scrutineering, and make sure you go to the riders' briefing. If you're not sure where to go, ask at race control. Everyone was new once.
